The 2013 Toro New Zealand Women's Interprovincial starts this morning at Muriwai with the Bay of Plenty Girls playing Hawke's Bay in their first match.
The Bay girls will be looking to at least repeat last year's effort in making the semifinals with a real mixture of youth and experiencein this year's side.
The team have 15-year-old Alanna Campbell from Omanu at No1 and she continues to impress with her powerful hitting and this is a fine opportunity to show her class to the national selectors.
Mount Maunganui resident but affiliated to Wairakei, Grace Senior is at two and she has played consistently well throughout the year and will be looking to at least share the honours in this challenging position.
After the disappointment of not making the team last year, Heather Keefe (Rotorua) has worked incredibly hard on her game and her results more than justify her selection. Playing at three her maturity and experience should be a great help when the going gets tough.
At four the Bay have the brilliant 14-year-old Tyla Kingi from Opotiki. If she keeps her focus on golf there is no telling how far she can go in the game. She has amazing length for such a diminutive figure and has a wonderful touch around the greens.
The ever-reliable Susan Lines from Te Teko will lead out the team. Susan has an amazing record in matchplay and has defeated players ranked well above her for many years.
At five she will be looking to give the girls the edge right from the start and her prodigious length will pressure most opposition this week.
