It's likely the sun will be shining over Tauranga most of Christmas Day.
MetService meteorologist Chelsea Glue said there should be fine spells tomorrow and light winds with afternoon sea breezes.
"There could still be a bit of cloud around, and the same for Friday, although there could be anortheasterly developing.
"Thursday and Friday, there will be morning cloud and then it should become fine. Showers will be mostly inland Bay of Plenty, so there may be a bit of cloud around."
A maximum of 22C was expected today, Friday and Saturday, with tomorrow's high expected to be 21C.
Saturday and Sunday should have fine spells with isolated showers throughout Bay of Plenty but Mrs Glue said it was less certain these would reach Tauranga. There would be wind at the beach.
Overnight lows would hit between 14C and 16C from today until Sunday.Sonya Bateson
