Well-known clinical nutritionist Ben Warren is coming to Tauranga to share his advice for people who want to be inspired to live healthier.

He will be holding two seminars this week, one of which will be used to raise funds for Otumoetai College towards a student trip to Los Angeles to take part in an international dance competition.

Ticket sale proceeds for the seminar tonight will go to the dance team.

Mr Warren said it was important to get into schools and give teens the message about how important it is to eat the food that is right for them.

"It's tough for them to actually know what they should be eating. We're going to be talking about the effects of sugar on the body, what fats people should be eating - I'm a huge fan of leafy green vegetables so I will be advocating that.

"I will be giving them a ladder of carbohydrates. At the bottom is sugars and at the top is wholegrains and vegetables."

Mr Warren said some of the advice he'll be giving would be teenage-specific but the majority of it would be advice for people of all ages.

"It's empowering people to eat right for their bodies. It's really for anyone that wants to be inspired to live healthier."

Mr Warren said he had quite a lot of people who followed his work in Tauranga and he was coming back to service these people.

He said the seminar would look at how to reverse the parameters of modern diseases through nutrition.

More than 35,000 people have attended Mr Warren's seminars and he has been featured on 60 Minutes, Good Morning and in a TedX Talk in 2014.

-Ben Warren will be speaking at a fundraising seminar at Otumoetai College at 7pm tonight and again tomorrow at a public seminar. Tickets cost $20.
