It's a big weekend for rugby.
On Sunday, the Steamers kick off their ITM Cup season with an opening clash against Counties Manukau in Pukekohe.
This year, the Bay of Plenty Times is championing our top local rugby team.
In today's paper, we have a special season preview page on A15.
We look at
the competition and the teams vying for provincial rugby's top prize.
Sports editor Kelly Exelby also talks to Aussie Steve Kefu, who has joined the team.
On page A16, there's a Q & A with Steamers coach Sean Horan and a preview to Sunday's match.
We will bring you full coverage of the match in Monday's paper.
Journalist Genevieve Helliwell will also be accompanying fans on a supporters bus up to the game and will talk to fans and bring readers the colour and feeling of the big event.
Her story and photos will feature on two Bay rugby fan pages in Monday's edition.
I hope fans are enjoying our special Monday rugby pages.
As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions. Simply email editor@bayofplentytimes.co.nz or go to our Facebook page.
I wish the Steamers all the best and hope they get their season off to a good start with a win on Sunday.
Go the Steamers!
