Former NZ Warrior Henry Fa'afili has helped challenge and change a group of exercise-enthusiasts working to improve their health and fitness.

He joined forces with Tauranga couple Jax Pevreal and Klynt Te Wheoro-Lucas, who run Fit Fam exercise sessions at no cost to help create a healthier Tauranga community, and lead yesterday's training.

The aim of Fit Fam was to get more people active and improve health, and the results for those who attended was payment enough for the couple.

Miss Pevreal said having Mr Fa'afili, now a Tauranga-based strength and conditioning coach, help them out was "awesome".

"He was so kind and encouraging of everyone," Miss Pevreal said.

She said the work out was great, with everyone being able to train at their own pace.

But he pushed us at the same time.

"Like he says, 'what doesn't challenge you doesn't change you' ... I think some people were changed."

Miss Pevreal said she and Mr Te Wheoro-Lucas would love to be able to work with Mr Fa'afili again if the opportunity came up.
