Results in Federation One have virtually assured AFC Fury another opportunity of winning promotion into the Northern Region Football Division Two competition.
It is not yet over with 11 rounds still to play, but the men of Maramatanga Park have just two draws to show as blemishes after almost threemonths of action and look technically superior to their opposition.
The WaiBop Federation One leaders ran rings around second-placed Tauranga City United in a 5-1 thrashing on Saturday, and with the Links Avenue based side not eligible for promotion due to its top side already playing in the Northern league, Fury's nearest real threat comes in the form of Cambridge and Tauranga Old Blues a full 10 competition points back.
Cambridge's chances of making a run were dented by Otumoetai Football Club, who picked up just their second win of the season 0-1 away from home on Saturday.
Tauranga Old Blues did themselves no favours, collecting a single point for the fourth straight week courtesy of a 1-1 draw with Matamata Swifts.
Ngongotaha AFC lie three points back on 16 competition points, with a further four points back to a Melville United side that drew 1-1 with HRFC Clube.
Tauranga Boys' College 1st XI lost 0-3 to Waikato Unicol AFC and remain in second to last position ahead of the Swifts.
