OOOOBY (Out Of Our Own Back Yards) is on a mission to make local food convenient, affordable and fair everywhere, and it is coming to Tauranga in the New Year.

Launched in Auckland infive years ago, Ooooby now has hubs in Waikato, Matakana, Sydney and Fresno, California, delivering 70,000 boxes of locally-produced food to 5000 households.

Ooooby customers can buy grocery items via the website, which get shipped in the weekly delivery of seasonal fresh produce.

As part of Ooooby's goal to increase local production and support the people who feed us, they pay growers a generous 50 per cent of the retail value of the food.

Thanks to local support, Ooooby is planning to open in Tauranga in the new year. Have a chat with them at the Down to Earth Expo next weekend at ASB Arena or visit www.ooooby.org
