Firefighters have been called to save a dog reportedly trapped in mud in a Tauranga estuary.
The dog had become trapped in mud in the Waimapu Estuary between Fraser Cove and Turret Rd.
It is understood the person called emergency services because the tide was coming in and the dog
appeared to be trapped.
Firefighters parked at Turret Rd said they were prepared for a dog rescue but the animal had made its own way out of the estuary and its owner has been contacted.
