Firefighters are attending to a fire in the laundry of a Pāpāmoa home this morning.

A Northern Fire Communications spokesman said firefighters were called to a Pāpāmoa address about 5.30am.

The spokesman said the fire was originally reported as a house fire but when firefighters arrived there was a small fire in the laundry.

Mount Maunganui and Tauranga fire brigades were still at the scene.

Meanwhile, firefighters from both brigades were called to a fire in a pizza oven at a Mount Maunganui business overnight.

The spokesman said firefighters were called to a pizza business on Maunganui Rd after a pizza oven caught fire about 9.30pm on Wednesday.

"The fire was out on arrival," the spokesman said.
