The Western Bay of Plenty District Councilstated that February and March were traditionally the hottest and driest months of the year, and all permit holders must ensure they are burning safely in the weather conditions and following the conditions of their permits.
It is essential to have sufficient water and tools onsite to keep their fires under control at all times. Fires must not be left unattended at any time and be completely extinguished when left, the council said.
A total fire ban remains in force for all reserves, foreshores, beach esplanades and parks managed by Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga City councils.
