Tauranga Mayor, Greg Brownless

Tauranga Mayor, Greg Brownless

The final results are in for Tauranga City Council - with no changes to the elected mayor and councillors.

All special votes have been counted up, resulting in the same mayor and councillors as were winners last Saturday.

In a closely contested race for the Otumoetai-Pyes Pa ward seat Catherine Stewart has claimed victory over Bev Edlin. Only 62 votes separated the two on election night, but that margin increased to 93 in the final results.

The margin between Rick Curach, the lowest polling At Large winner, and Tony Christians en was 86 votes despite 159 votes separating the candidates on election night.

The next few weeks would be dedicated to inducting all elected members, before they were officially sworn in during an inaugural council meeting on October 31.

The first normal business council meeting would be on December 6.

The final result for the Tauranga City Council elections held on Saturday 8th October
