Hundreds of people were in Pilot Bay tonight to farewell The Queen Victoria after its maiden visit to the city.
The ship set sail for Auckland at 5.45pm tonight, watched on by the crowds enjoying the final Pilot Bay Picnic, organised by Mount Mainstreet.
The cruise liner Sun Princess wasalso in port today and set sail at 5.30pm.
People were lining the beach with their takeaway dinners to enjoy the view as the ships sailed out of the harbour.
Classic hits hosted a free sausage sizzle for the event which was popular among the spectators.
