Mark Sandoval's visual love letter to the Mount has been completed as a 5-minute snap shot of the place he calls home.

The video was released today after several weeks of filming and editing.

The-25-year-old novice videographer spent time filming around Mount Maunganui including Mauao, Mount Main Beach and Leisure Island and captured local talent while doing it.

Mr Sandoval said he was stoked with the final product of the mini-film.

"I'm really happy with the final edit and very excited to show everybody," he told the Bay of Plenty Times.

"It focuses on the Mount. The downtown, the beach, Mauao, Leisure Island and captures summer, the people, the place."

Mr Sandoval said he used to make his own videos back in high school and then when he went travelling.

"I love being outdoors, so I started travelling around New Zealand and started filming my own adventures when I would go for hikes or check out water falls."

He had been living in Mount Maunganui for 14 years but never thought about creating a video for the Mount until last year, he said.

"This place is as good as anywhere else, we just don't see it through a tourist's eyes. So the video shows it in a new perspective by using different techniques like time lapse and aerial footage. The video also shows off some of local talent.

"I was inspired to create something for the place I call home."

Mr Sandoval said he taught himself how to shoot and edit during the process out of his own pocket, in his own time away from his job.

"I wanted to start this year with a bang, and this project is it."
