"It was coming straight at me. I had no choice but to catch it."

Those were the words Rob Ferrari used to describe the moment he pulled off a one-handed catch at Bay Oval on Wednesday night, making him $50,000 richer.

Ferrari was the fourth winner of Tui's Catch a Million competition this summer, with the latest effort coming off a well-hit hook shot by English batsman Jos Buttler.

The Mount Maunganui man could be seen lining up the ball on the grass bank at Bay Oval before catching it comfortably with his right hand.

With his arms raised in celebration and shock, he was immediately embraced by everyone around him.

"Oh, he's got it," English commentator David "Bumble" Lloyd shouted. "Oh, well done you."

"Yeah, that is special," Kiwi commentator Simon Doull said.

Speaking to the Bay of Plenty Times yesterday Ferrari said things were back to "business as usual" after the win.

There were not too many celebrations on Wednesday night as Ferrari returned to his job as a painter the next day, he said.

"It was pretty tame. I chilled at home and just absorbed the win," Ferrari said.

His partner, who was not at the match, got a phone call telling her to turn on the television.

"She saw the catch on a replay. She was really stoked," he said.

The Mount Maunganui father has three children under 4 and said the money would be put towards upgrading his vehicle and a family holiday.

He said it would be good to take his children and partner to Brisbane to visit family.

It was the fourth time the promotional cash prize had been won this year.

Dunedin builder Craig Dougherty snaffled a one-handed catch during the Black Caps v Pakistan ODI at the University Oval, holding on to a Martin Guptill six early in the match and Mitchell Grimstone won $50,000 off the bat of Ross Taylor.

Grimstone, a 20-year-old student, took his catch off the penultimate ball of New Zealand's Twenty20 Tri-series match against Australia at Eden Park.

The third was Rudi Bosman, who bagged $50,000 at Hamilton's Seddon Park in the Black Caps' Twenty20 against England.

However, Bosman revealed the catch was a strategic team effort and he would split the win with his friends.

"I, being the tallest, said I should wear it [Tui Catch a Million shirt] and then we'll just share the money, so I get a bit of it. It's not worth losing friends over."
