High winds are believed to have felled trees throughout the Bay of Plenty today, including trees which blocked State Highway 2.
A second tree has come down across a Western Bay road.
A fire service northern communications spokesman said firefighters were on the way to help clear the tree which was blocking Plummers Point Rd near the intersection with SH2.
It was blocking about two-thirds of the road.
Motorists were earlierwarned to take care on State Highway 2 north of Tauranga after a tree fell onto the main highway near Bethlehem.
A reporter at the scene said the tree was blocking a lane near the Wairoa Bridge but traffic was still moving, albeit slowly.
