Save A 20-year-old woman received moderate facial injuries after falling from her mountain bike at the Papamoa Hills.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to the hills at 3.30pm yesterday to transport the woman to hospital.
Pilot Todd Dunham said although she was wearing a helmet, the woman received
moderate facial injuries that required immediate hospital care.
Mr Dunham said the woman was injured at a part of the track down in a valley that was not easily accessible, which was why the helicopter was called.
The mountain bike rider was flown to Tauranga Hospital.
