Emergency services respond after car goes into water in Tauranga

A car has gone into the water near Fraser Cove in Tauranga.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said they were called to reports of a car in the water on Fraser St, near the shopping centre.

They said all people were out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived, and they have since left the scene.

A police spokesperson said it looks like a vehicle may have side swiped at least one car before ending up half in the water near the Fraser St Reserve.

“There doesn’t appear to be any serious injuries, however, the driver – who was the sole occupant of the vehicle – is being assessed by ambulance.”
