Dramatic Waihi Rd crash leaves 4x4 on its roof

A 4x4 rolled and landed on its roof at a busy Tauranga intersection about 9.20 last night.

The maroon Toyota Surf crashed on Waihi Rd near the Takitimu Drive off-ramp.

No other cars appeared to be involved.

Bay of Plenty Times Weekend photographer Andrew Warner said a man was sitting on the road beside the truck looking shaken.

Bystanders looked after him until an ambulance arrived, he said.

The crash left glass all over the road and blocked the city-bound lane.

Police and firefighters were also called to the crash.
