You have probably seen their spectacular craft competing and training on the Tauranga Harbour without knowing who they are.
The Bay Dragons and Boobops are making serious waves on the national dragon boating scene with the women's Bay Dragons in action over the weekend at the nationals on Lake Hood
in Ashburton.
They enter every year in the event that alternates between Rotorua and Ashburton. Last year they came home with bronze medals in the 2k race at both the regionals and nationals and this week hope to return with an even bigger haul. Morale was certainly boosted at the regionals held last weekend when they won bronze in the 500m, which was the first time they have won in that category.
