Get your glitterballs ready because a new event in January is set to get the Mount grooving to old school disco boogie.

A host of disco legends, including The Jacksons, Kool & The Gang, The Pointer Sisters, Village People, Sister Sledge and The Sounds of the Supremes, are playing a one-off event on Thursday, January 10 at ASB Baypark in the Mount.

The event, A Summer's Day Disco, is bringing "disco's biggest icons for the first-time ever, for one magical show", says event organiser Pato Alvarez of Neptune entertainment.

"Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the kings and queens of disco together for one magic night under the stars. It is sure to be one of the most talked about concert line-ups of the summer."

The Jacksons, featuring original members Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon, will get the party started with bangers of the disco generation including Can You Feel It, Blame It On The Boogie, I'll Be There and ABC.

Kool & The Gang will pull out all the treats from their five-year career including Celebration, Get Down On It and Jungle Boogie.

Grammy winners The Pointer Sisters will keep the party pumping with crowd pleasers such as I'm So Excited, Jump (For My Love), Neutron Dance, Slow Hand and Fire.

Sister Sledge's big hits include We Are Family, Lost In Music and He's The Greatest Dancer, and many in the crowd will remember all the moves to disco kings The Village People's hits including Macho Man, YMCA, In The Navy, Go West and Can't Stop the Music.
