Top metal band Devilskin, fronted by Rotorua's Jennie Skulander, are about to embark on a New Zealand tour to keep Kiwi fans happy before they head overseas again.

But sadly for Rotorua fans, the tour isn't coming to Skulander's home town, with Mount Maunganui being the closest stop of the eight-gig tour.

Promoters have said the tour would not be coming to Rotorua this time but would perform locally once it embarked on a full New Zealand tour next year following the release of a new album.

The band have recently returned from Germany and the United Kingdom and plan to head back there once the New Zealand tour is over.

"Well, we do have a bunch of new tunes that we're really excited about, so we're keen to take them out on a road test," said founding member Paul Martin.

"We've definitely missed our crazy Devil army while we've been locked away writing the next album, so now it's time to get out on tour and rip it up."

Devilskin is currently working alongside international producer Greg Haver, who has worked with Manic Street Preachers, Melanie C, Opshop, Kimbra, Super Furry Animals and Bullet For My Valentine.

In October and November Devilskin will do 36 shows supporting Grammy Award winning hard rock band Halestorm in a European tour. The two bands will perform in 18 cities including those in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and throughout England.

Skulander, who is a former Rotorua Lakes High School student, said they were excited about heading overseas later in the year.

"We've been itching to get back to the UK, we had such an amazing tour with Sumo Cyco during February 2017 and can't wait to hit the road and reconnect with our UK fans," she said.

Tickets or the New Zealand tour are on sale through Eventfinda www.eventfinda.co.nz.

Devilskin New Zealand tour:
August 31, Union Hall Dunedin
September 1, The Foundry Christchurch
September 6, Walter Nash Stadium Wellington
September 7, The Royal Palmerston North
September 8, The Mayfair New Plymouth
September 13, Altitude Hamilton
September 14, The Powerstation Auckland
September 15, Baypark Stadium Mt Maunganui
