Traffic remains backed up after a crash on State Highway 2 at Bethlehem, north of Tauranga.

A police media spokeswoman said police were called to the crash at the intersection of SH2 and Taniwha Place at 5.35pm.

The collision involved two cars. No one was injured, she said.

However, the crash resulted in a heavy tail of traffic backed up along SH2 and delays were expected.

A motorist passing through the area at 6.35pm said traffic was still heavily congested.
