"The Dance-O-Mat is a fitting way to celebrate Trustpower's arrival in the CBD and symbolic of the kind of energy Trustpower has brought to our city," said Mr Crosby.
It was originally designed to bring life and energy back to the Christchurch CBD post-quake, and it certainly delivered on that promise, attracting thousands of people including Prince Charles and Camilla when they visited New Zealand on their 2012 Royal Jubilee tour.
Tauranga's Dance-O-Mat, only the second in the world, will be located on The Strand opposite Masonic Park.

Trustpower chief executive Officer Vince Hawksworth said that the company's move into its new purpose-built head office in February, and its central location, was already proving beneficial for staff, customers and the CBD alike.
"We're delighted to have moved to the CBD and we wanted to do something really positive and fun to thank everyone in the city for being so welcoming," Mr Hawksworth said.
He said Trustpower's community relations manager, Graeme Purches, had seen first-hand how much people loved the Dance-O-Mat in Christchurch.
"Graeme suggested it would be perfect for Tauranga, bringing people from all walks of life together and helping to brighten up the downtown area. We all agreed, and we are looking forward to seeing people stepping out in style down on the waterfront," Mr Hawksworth said.
The Dance-O-Mat is expected to be open for dancing by the end of this week.
