A cyclist and a car have collided in Mount Maunganui.

Emergency services are responding to the incident, on Matapihi Rd outside the Omanu Golf Club.

Read more: Family mourns tragic death of 5-year-old

A reporter at the scene said the female cyclist was lying on the ground, covered in a blanket as St John ambulance staff arrived.

The crash comes two days after a 5-year-old girl was killed while riding her bicycle on Matapihi Rd.
