Cruise ship's first and only voyage to Tauranga this season

The Costa Luminosa has arrived in Tauranga for the first and only time this season, as part of a 112-day world tour.

The 294-metre-long cruise ship carrying 2260 passengers and 1050 crew docked the Port of Tauranga at 6.25am today.

The cruise ship is expected to leave at 5.30pm.

Tourism Bay of Plenty cruise manager Nikita Fraser said it is the Costa Luminosa's first and only visit to Tauranga this season.

The Costa Luminosa is on a 112-day round trip world cruise which left from Venice, Italy.

The cruise ship, built in 2008 and refurbished in 2017, has arrived from Rarotonga and will be heading to Auckland tomorrow.

The ship has four restaurants on board, a Turkish bath, 4D cinema, three-level theatre, 18 hole championship golf simulator, casino, and a grand prix racecar simulator.
