A person was transported to hospital with critical injuries after a serious crash on State Highway 2 near Tauranga last night.
The crash happened on State Highway 2 near Tauranga about 1km north of the Pahoia Rd turn-off.
Police initally said one person was seriously injured, however a St Johnspokeswoman has confirmed the person was transported by helicopter to Waikato hospital in a critical condition.
The road was closed and diversions were in place at Esdaile Rd to the south and Wainui South Rd to the north.
