Bay of Plenty Development go into their third match of the season against Counties Manukau at the Weymouth Oval tomorrow with a win and a loss in their first two Basil McBurney Trophy games.

A first-up loss to Hamilton was followed by a solid victory over Northland in Whangarei. The Bay of Plenty 2nd XI posted 197/9 in the Far North, with Cam Neal leading the way with a solid 49 runs. Northland were bowled out for 153, with Chris Atkinson (4-22) and Brody Gilroy (3-45) doing the damage with the ball.

In keeping with Bay of Plenty Cricket's philosophy of promoting promising youngsters from Baywide premier cricket to play senior representative cricket, two more young players will make their Bay of Plenty Development debut tomorrow. Mount Maunganui premier bowler Luke Tatley, who still attends Otumoetai College, and Te Puke all-rounder Jonty Grigson will make their first Bay of Plenty Development appearance in the Counties Manukau match. Tatley has taken 13 Baywide bowling scalps this season, while Grigson is equally adept with both bat and ball.

One of the primary aims of the Bay of Plenty Development team is the promotion of players to the Bay senior team which competes in the annual ND Fergus Hickey competition. This weekend's two new Bay Development recruits will be with players who have earned promotion to the Bay of Plenty Fergus Hickey side this season from the Bay Development ranks.
