Eleven Bay of Plenty players have earned selection in five Northern Districts age-group teams that will be in action in January 2014.

Bay of Plenty Coastland senior secondary captain Ben Musgrave has been selected for the Northern Districts Under-19 team to play in the NZ Cricket national tournament to be held from January 14-22 . The Coastland skipper is an extremely talented batsman who posted a century for the Bay Development side late last year.

Bay of Plenty Coastland all rounder Jonty Keaney is a non-travelling reserve in the ND side, but will train with the team this week prior to departure for the national tournament.

There is a further Bay of Plenty connection with Poverty Bay brothers Scott and Sam Tallott, who travel to play Baywide premier cricket for Te Puke from Gisborne each week, also being selected in the ND line-up.

Three further Bay of Plenty senior secondary representatives will play for the ND Under-18 Development side who square off against their Auckland counterparts later this week. Tauranga Boys' College batsman Gareth Wallace has been named in the Development team along with Otumoetai College's Bill Burnett and BoP Lakeland spin bowler Shannon McSkimming from Taupo.

Burnett, who narrowly missed selection for the BoP Coastland team, played his way into the ND Under-18 team after taking a leading role with the ND Invitation team in the annual ND tournament.

Alistair Blackett, who blasted a century at the ND Junior Secondary tournament in December, has been named in the ND Under-16 team along with fellow BoP Lakeland all-rounder Declan Keaney.

Five players from the victorious Bay of Plenty Senior Secondary Schoolgirls team who attended the annual ND tournament in December have earned ND representation.

Kate Anderson, Piki Tai and Tia Robinson will represent the Bay in the ND Under-18 girls side, with Katie Mountain and Holly Topp being named in the ND Under-15 team.
