Tauranga Eastern Link crash causes delays, one taken to hospital

One person has been taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash on the Tauranga Eastern Link.

Emergency services were called to the crash about 5.35am, a police statement said.

The crash scene has now been cleared after earlier causing delays.

Earlier, NZTA Waka Kotahi said that the westbound lane prior to Kaituna Bridge was blocked.

A Hone Hato St John spokesperson said one person was assessed by the crew at the scene and was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a moderate condition.

Police initially said one person had received serious injuries.
