A crash has closed State Highway 25 in Coromandel and seriously injured two people.
Police said a three-vehicle crash had blocked the road between Coromandel and Matarangi about 11am.
“Indications are there are various injuries, some serious.
“There are diversions in place off State Highway 25 at Whangapoua and Matarangi.”
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said the highway was now closed near Opitonui Rd, east of Te Rerenga.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said two ambulances, one rapid response unit, one operations manager, and two helicopters went to the scene.
“Two patients, both in serious conditions, are being airlifted to Waikato Hospital.
“Four additional patients, in minor to moderate conditions, were assessed and treated at the scene.”
One organisation welcomed the money but said it is 'not a full solution'.
