Cow killed after being hit by car on State Highway 2 overnight

A cow was killed last night after being struck by a vehicle on State Highway 2.

A police spokeswoman said the crash happened between Pukehina Station Rd and Nanric Lane just after 1am.

She said the driver was uninjured, but the car was reportedly in a ditch and would need to be towed.

The owner of the cow was located and said they would deal with it this morning, she said.
