Michelle Senkus wants everyone to have a good Christmas.

The Tauranga woman is heading a campaign to get tenants in the ANZ building to donate to the Tauranga Community Foodbank this Christmas.

With nine business and about 400 employees, it's game time to see who can bring in the most food.

Ms Senkus, Cooney Lees Morgan administration manager, said it was the second year they would get together as a building to raise donations and she was hoping to get all the tenants in the ANZ building at the corner of Cameron Rd and Elizabeth St involved.

"We will try to compete against each other to maximise the amount of food which gets brought in. That could be any one of us at some point in our lives when we do need that help," she said.

Ms Senkus said they did not count the amount of food collected last year but there were "boxes and boxes spread across the building".

"We as tenants try and support each other fundraising event a tenant is doing. Because everybody has their own personal charity they want to support so we try really hard to support each other."

Ms Senkus said she wanted to encourage everybody in the ANZ building and in the community to get behind the Tauranga Community Foodbank this year.

"People have situations in their lives they have no control over, if somebody gets sick in the family and you have to give up work to look after them, you can't ever plan for those situations and that is the time you might need some help."

Ms Senkus said there were no specifications on what to bring in to be donated but typically at this time of year people would often bring in something "a bit special".

"Chocolates and softdrinks and things like that with Christmas in mind."

Notifications had been sent out to all the tenants of the ANZ building and the Tauranga Community Foodbank will collect the donations next Friday at 1pm.
