Company puts hold on island development

The owner of a big chunk of Matakana Island, Blakely Pacific Ltd, will put a three-year moratorium on the development of an exclusive 48-lot rural subdivision, even although no community appeals have been received against the decision to approve the subdivision.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council granted consent for Blakely Pacific to subdivide its 1920-hectare island holding into 48 lots.
The date for appeals has closed, with only the company contesting some of planning conditions.
