A man has been left critically injured after being hit by a car on Cameron Rd.
The incident happened outside The Warehouse on Cameron Rd, near Ninth Ave about 9.10pm yesterday, a police spokeswoman said.
A woman who was one of the first on the scene to the crash said many drivers jumped to aid the man.
A number of motorists got out to help, with one man holding a towel to the injured's head while the woman used her basic first aid skills to keep him in a safe position.

Advertise with NZME.She drove her car to in front of him so no traffic could hit him, she said.
A nurse passing by stopped at the scene to help, which made quite the difference, she said.
The man was taken to Tauranga Hospital.
A Bay of Plenty District Health Board spokeswoman said a 47-year-old Tauranga man was now in a stable condition in Tauranga Hospital.
The Serious Crash Unit was investigating.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said crews from both Tauranga and Mount Maunganui went to the scene to assist police and ambulance.
