Update: A second two vehicle crash has occurred in the same vicinity.

A police spokesperson said it was caused by the earlier crash in terms of traffic coming over the hill, but he said both north and south bound lanes were flowing slowly.

No one was injured.

Update: A police spokesperson has confirmed a two car collision on SH2 in Te Puna.

He said there were no injuries but one lane was blocked, and traffic was building up.

He said a unit was in the area running a diversion around the crash site.

The spokesperson could not confirm developments at the crash on Pyes Pa Rd, but said a police unit was till at the scene so motorists could expect some delays.

Earlier: Reports are coming in of a multiple car collision on State Highway 2 near Te Puna.

A fire communications spokesman said it appeared two to three cars were involved and all emergency services were responding.

It was understood diversions were being set up for motorists.

This crash is the latest in a string of crashes this afternoon including a car collision on Pyes Pa Rd about 4pm.
