The ZM Cheer team from Tauranga exceeded expectations at the recent Twisted National Cheer Competition held at the ASB Stadium in Kohimarama, Auckland.

Twisted Athletics, from the US, put on two New Zealand events each year so the day was packed full of cheer and more than 300 dance competitors of all ages, sizes and abilities.

The Tauranga-based cheer team, who train at Impact Gymsport Academy, came home with an outstanding medal haul considering they have only been together for six months.

The next Twisted competition is in June next year so the girls will work hard to bring home more trophies but having fun will remain the top priority.

Cheerleading as a competitive sport is growing in Tauranga. If you wish to join or want more information, contact Rebecca Grigson on 021 191 6933.
