A woman suffered leg and hip injuries after she was crushed against the exterior wall of a Greerton shop by a car yesterday.
The incident happened about 10am in a service lane next to Greerton Amcal Pharmacy on Chadwick Road, as the driver of the car attempted to reverse from a
carpark.
A man who works nearby said staff heard, "a thump and a scream" and came outside to find the 50-year-old woman had been struck.
Ambulance and police were called and the woman, who lives in Tauranga, was taken to hospital by St John.
The driver of the vehicle was a 56-year-old woman who the man said was a regular at the busy shopping centre and was  upset by the incident.
Hearing the crash, his first thought was, "oh someone's hit the building again," he said, recalling an incident when a car came from the service lane and through the shop window.
The impact of yesterday's crash left a dent in the plaster wall.  The car narrowly  missed an external gas line on the side of the building.
The entire incident was caught  by a CCTV camera through the window of the pharmacy. The footage  had been supplied to police.
A full police investigation will be carried out before it is known if any charges will be laid. By 3pm yesterday, the injured woman had been treated and discharged from Tauranga Hospital.
