Car crashes off Te Puke Highway and lands on railway tracks

A car has crashed off a highway, down a bank and landed on railway tracks.

A police media spokeswoman said they were notified of the crash, on Te Puke Highway between Te Tumu and Pah Rds, about 1.05pm.

The car had left the road and ended up on the railway tracks.

There were two occupants in the vehicle, she said.

A St John spokeswoman said one ambulance was sent to the scene and was transporting one patient with serious injuries to Tauranga Hospital.
