A car and cyclist have been involved in a crash at Mount Maunganui.

A police media spokeswoman said police were called to Aberdeen St and Tweed St in Mount Maunganui just after 6.45am after a car and cyclist collided.

It appears one person suffered minor injuries, the spokeswoman said.

Traffic in the area is not expected to be affected.
