Papamoa Beach Resort has received one of the world's highly sought-after awards for excellence in hospitality for the second year running.

Based on guest reviews on the world's largest travel site, the beachfront resort has received a 2015 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award in recognition of it being a top accommodation provider.

Papamoa Beach Resort also won the TripAdvisor's People's Choice award last year.

Papamoa Beach Resort general manager Rebecca Toner said the team was pleased and proud of the award.

"It is really rewarding for our staff and the whole business team. Our whole team works extremely hard to keep service standards consistently high and provide the best possible experience to our guests. It's incredibly important to us that we not only meet our guests' expectations but surpass them whenever we can, so they want to keep coming back to stay in our little piece of paradise," she said.

The business was entering its 49th year of operation, and had gone from strength to strength.

TripAdvisor was one of the tools the business used to assess its overall service and to make improvements. Mrs Toner said she did not travel without checking the website reviews.

"We know if you don't do what you say you will do, people will soon let your know."

Now in its fifth year, the Certificate of Excellence award celebrates excellence in hospitality and goes to establishments that consistently earn great visitor reviews on TripAdvisor.

To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must be listed on the website for at least a year.

TripAdvisor for business president Marc Charron said the company was pleased to honour exceptional hospitality businesses.

TripAdvisor not only helped drive increasing hospitality standards around the world, it also gave businesses large and small the ability to shine and stand out from the competition, he said.
