The Child Cancer Foundation is calling for volunteers to collect on Beads of Courage Day next month.
The street appeal will be held on March 21 and is hoped to raise $6 million annually to help children with cancer and their families. The Foundation provides practical one-on-one support tailored tothe different needs of each family.
The average length of treatment for the most common form of childhood cancer, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, is three years for girls and three and a half years for boys.
Child Cancer Foundation acting CEO Simon Lala said each hour spent collecting for the Foundation made life that little bit easier for children and their families living with cancer.
"One hundred per cent of money raised will go directly to support vital Family Support services including one-on-one support from our Family Support Coordinators, petrol and grocery vouchers, access to holiday homes and camps, scholarships and medical research.
"Sign up with friends or take ownership of a site with your local club. The Foundation will give you all the support you need,'' he says.
