Calista said she thought her chances of getting through to the grand final were good, although she thought the other performers were strong competition.
"Everyone performed their best, I just hope I go through.
"I want to be a singer/songwriter or be on Broadway so when I'm 16 I'm planning to go overseas to a performing arts school or something like that," she said.
"Winning the $100,000 prize would really help with that, otherwise I will have to apply for scholarships." With exams coming up, Calista said her teachers were trying to get her to take her homework along on filming sessions, but she preferred to concentrate on the competition.
Tauranga Girls' College students have been getting behind the campaign to support Calista and posters are hung around the school encouraging people to vote for the teen.
Her friends were also doing what they could to support her.
Frankie Grainger, 15, said she had been voting as often as she could and her mother had spent $15 on text votes.
"It's pretty cool, I'm proud of her. I think she will get through and hopefully win.
"I've known her since we were at intermediate, she used to perform at assemblies and stuff. It was pretty weird watching her on TV."
Frankie said Calista was constantly singing. "When she's bored she just starts singing. In a couple of years she will be giving us all free tickets to watch her perform in front of big crowds."
Jannika Glasgow, 14, said she had always known Calista was a good singer. "But I didn't know she was that good.
"I've known her since primary school and I've even got her autograph.
"I've been watching her on TV, it's pretty cool seeing her."
Jannika thought Calista had a good chance of getting through to the grand final.
