Aspire will also feature a high-performance sports training centre run by All Blacks strength and conditioning coach Nic Gill.
Mr Patel said high performance trainers would develop programmes tailored to a variety of codes such as triathlon, swimming, netball, hockey and soccer. Rugby would be a small part of it.
Latest changes included the decision to expand to a full-blown sports medicine centre including physiotherapy, podiatry, nutrition and three types of massage.
The sports medicine centre will also feature a conference room for in-house education programmes for trainers and topics like diabetes control seminars for the community.
Mr Patel said the interest had been so strong that, if anything, they were slowing things down because there was still nearly seven months to go until the complex opened.
He expected that high performance athletes would account for about 10 per cent of their base business, with 90 per cent being members wanting to keep in shape or get into shape.
As the name suggested, he said the club would create a highly motivational environment.
Mr Patel and developer John McDougall have taken their inspiration from the best in America and Europe because there was nothing comparable in New Zealand. It would promote Tauranga and be unique in New Zealand.
"I have been working on this for three-and-a-half years. It has taken a long time to get to this stage and we want it to be the best."
