Burning pot sparks fire callout

A burnt pot sparked a Fire Brigade callout overnight.

Firefighters were called to, what was thought to be a kitchen fire in Kings Avenue In Matua about 7.10pm.

Tauranga senior station officer Mark Keller said a pot had been left on the stove when someone had left the house.

He said when the woman got back, the house was full of smoke and the contents had burnt away.

Mr Keller said it was lucky it hadn't eventuated into a kitchen fire.

He said this was the third kitchen fire firefighters had been called to this month.
