Former All Black Robin Brooke is back home with his family in Tauranga as the police investigation into an allegation he sexually harassed a young girl continues to drag on.
It has been two weeks since Fiji police announced that Brooke, owner of Gate Pa New World, was being investigated.
The allegation
that on New Year's Eve he grabbed a 15-year-old Auckland girl's backside while she was poolside at a Denarau Island resort has made headlines in New Zealand, the Pacific, Australia and South Africa.
It is also claimed that at the Fiji Beach Resort and Spa he assaulted a 17-year-old Australian male who had tried to intervene in the alleged incident.
Updates from Fiji police on whether Brooke, 43, will face charges appear to be drying up and the accused's law firm will not comment on what stage the investigation is at.
The Fiji police spokesman who has been the media's point of contact could not be contacted yesterday, despite repeated attempts. Other police staff spoken to by the Bay of Plenty Times had no awareness of the case.
If there have been developments in the investigation then the details, for the time being, have been kept under wraps.
Brooke, who is married with four children, reportedly returned to New Zealand on January 8.
He was not seen at his Pyes Pa home in the days that followed his return and was not expected to be back at work at his store until the end of the month.
Yesterday he appeared relaxed when he opened the door of his home. He politely told the Bay of Plenty Times he knew why the newspaper wanted to talk to him but said he could not make any comment.
He smiled as he closed the door.
The Tauranga law firm representing him, Adams & Horsley, also refused to comment.
