A young boy had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck up a tree at Tauranga Domain yesterday morning.
Tauranga Fire Brigade senior station officer Mark Keller said the boy had climbed about 8m up the large tree but could not find his way safely down again.
He said climbing up
a tree was always easier than finding your way down.
Mr Keller said the boy's father turned up at Tauranga Fire Station asking for their help.
A firefighter went up a ladder to collect the boy, aged about 8, who remained calm.
"He was quite happy, most probably quite impressed that the Fire Service turned up to rescue him."
He wasn't so happy, however, when Mr Keller joked he could wash the fire truck as payment for their help.
