The Phil's Place Clash of the Corporates, which preceded the New Zealand Welterweight professional title fight at the QE2 Memorial Hall on Saturday, produced 15 entertaining bouts.

The best boxing display of the night came in the women's Welterweight contest between "Nitro" Nicole Aldridge and Inge "The Stinger" Whibley. Both boxers showcased their boxing skills with an array of jabs and neat combinations, with the fight going to the final bell. The judges at ringside gave a close unanimous decision to Whibley.

Three rounds of explosive action had the crowd on its feet throughout the Cruiserweight match-up between Elias "The Drain Slayer" Jones and Rene "The Renegade" Robb. The pair never stopped throwing leather in the six minutes of non-stop action, with referee Denny Enright stepping in to separate the two boxers on a number of occasions. The result was in doubt until the ring announcer read out the judges' scorecards, with Jones sneaking home with a split decision.

The most even bout of the undercard, came in the first Cruiserweight contest of the night, between Nick "The Natural Born Killer" Burborough and Oliver "Tiger" Woodward. The judges were unable to separate the two boxers with the fight finishing in a draw.

An explosive first round set the scene, when two of the big boys of the Heavyweight division met in the sixth fight on the card. "Rumbling" Cory Rikihana and Charles "The Pirirakau Taniwha" Bidois both threw plenty of heavy leather, before the referee stopped the bout late in the third round in favour of Rikihana.

While Jack Rudd earned a majority points victory in his Cruiserweight fight with Bowen Lanning, the momentum changed several times during the contest. Rudd stormed out of his corner and clearly won the first stanza.

Fighting out of the blue corner Lanning came back in the second, with both boxers going toe to toe in the third, before Rudd grabbed a majority decision victory.
