Body found in search for missing Tauranga man Cecil

Police searching for a missing man in Tauranga found a body on October 3.

Police have found a body in the search for a 62-year-old missing Tauranga man.

Cecil was reported missing by whānau last week after last being seen in the Ohauiti/Hairini area.

Police said in an update on Monday they had found a body on October 3 the Hairini area.

Cecil was reported missing last week.

In a statement to NZME, whānau said Cecil left on foot on September 27 without his phone, and with possible plans to head to Hastings.

“He’s our uncle and we love him, we just wanna know that he’s okay. This is completely out of character and we are genuinely concerned,” the statement said.

Police said the death will be referred to the Coroner.
