Bay of Plenty man denies pulling out gun on the Tauranga Eastern Link and drug charges

A Bay of Plenty man has denied allegations that he pointed a pistol out the window of a car at another man on the Tauranga Eastern Link and drug supply and possession charges.

A police spokeswoman earlier said the alleged firearm incident happened about 4.30pm yesterday.

She said about 7pm, officers spotted the alleged suspect's car on Fifteenth Ave and stopped the vehicle near Bell Rd in Judea, and a 40-year-old man was taken into custody.

The police spokeswoman also said the firearm allegedly used was also found.

The defendant pleaded not guilty four charges when he appeared in Tauranga District Court today.

Firstly one charge each of unlawful possession of a .280 pistol and presenting the firearm at another man.

The defendant has also denied two drug charges, namely possession of methamphetamine and possession of cannabis head for supply.

All four offences were allegedly committed in Tauranga yesterday.

The accused man was remanded in custody to next appear in the same court on April 23 for a case review hearing.
