Fire crews were battling a blaze in a single-storey house last night near Edgecumbe leaving one person moderately injured.

Three Fire and Emergency crews were sent to a house on Western Drain Rd at 10pm last night, said northern communication shift manager Paul Radden.

Radden confirmed there were no investigations ongoing.

St John attended the fire incident with one vehicle and treated one patient which was later transported to Whakatane Hospital in a moderate condition.
